Product Description

Cefuroxime for Injection

This product is the second generation cephalosporin antibiotics. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall by binding bacterial protein. Cefuroxime has a wide range of antibacterial activity against pathogens, and is stable to many β - lactamases, especially to plasmid mediated enzymes commonly found in Enterobacteriaceae.
Cefuroxime has antibacterial activity against most of the following bacteria in vitro and in clinical infection treatment
Aerobic gram positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (including β - lactamase producing bacteria), Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Aerobic gram negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, influenza bacillus (including β - lactamase producing bacteria), Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis (including β - lactamase producing bacteria), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including β - lactamase producing bacteria).
In vitro tests showed that most of Enterococcus faecalis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium difficile and Bacteroides fragilis were resistant to cefuroxime.
