Ceftazidime for Injection
This product is the third generation cephalosporin antibiotics. It has high antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, pneumoniae and other Enterobacteriaceae, Haemophilus influenzae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also has good antibacterial effect on nitrate negative bacilli and alkali producing bacilli. It is highly stable to most of the β - lactamases produced by bacteria, so it still has antibacterial activity against the multi drug resistant strains of gram-negative bacilli. Gram positive cocci such as pneumococci and Streptococcus haemolyticus were highly sensitive to the drug, but the product was only moderately active against Staphylococcus. Enterococcus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus were often resistant to the drug. This product has certain antibacterial activity against anaerobic bacteria such as Enterococcus and Streptococcus, but it has poor antibacterial effect on Bacteroides fragilis.
Its mechanism of action is to combine with penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) on bacterial cell membrane to acylate transpeptidase, inhibit the synthesis of bacterial septum and cell wall, affect the cross linking of mucin components of cell wall, inhibit cell division and growth, and lengthen the morphology of bacteria, and finally dissolve and die.
