Product Description
Cefotaxime sodium is the third generation of semi-synthetic cephalosporins. Its effect on Gram-positive bacteria is not as good as cefazolin. Enterococcus is resistant to cefazolin. It is ineffective against penicillin-resistant pneumococcus. It has strong bactericidal activity against Gram-negative bacteria. It has strong bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli, influenza bacilli, pneumococcus and Proteus mirabilis. Salmonella has stronger antimicrobial activity than cefoperazone. It is weak or resistant to Pseudomonas fragilis. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter cloacae are insensitive to this product.
Cefotaxime is widely distributed in various tissues and body fluids throughout the body. The drug concentration in normal cerebrospinal fluid is very low, and the effective concentration in cerebrospinal fluid can be reached in patients with meningitis after using this product. Bronchial secretions, middle ear effusion, pleural effusion, empyema, ascites, gallbladder wall, bile, bone tissue can also reach the effective concentration: this product can enter the fetal blood circulation through the placental barrier, a small amount can also enter breast milk.
